Amanda Bartrim 9th place in the World Junior Championships!!!The women pole vaulters had hard time in Moncton. On Thursday the qualifying was postponed because of heavy raining after that they already started the warm up. Next day Mandy cleared with her first attempt 395 cm that qualified her in to the final. The final was held according to the schedule, but then the strong wind tried the athletes out. Most of the athletes performed well under their best (20-40 cm). Mandy jumped 380 cm in this hard conditions and became 9th. Congratulation for her!

5th Seahawks Handicap Competition
World Junior Championships pre- departure competition for Amanda Bartrim
The main goal of this competition was to give an opportunity for Mandy to jump the pre-departure standard for the World Junior Championships (380 cm) and hold a competition where she could practice the competition situation. There were 7 competitors to help her to reach her goal.
The competition was a success because Mandy was able to clear the 380 cm and 390 cm as well.
The Handicap competition winner was Marlee Barber who competed from 2 steps and jumped 220 cm. 2nd was Stephanie Langridge who cleared 260 cm from 2 steps and the third was Emma Nash who cleared 210 cm from 4 steps.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this competition and congratulation for the new Pbs.

3rd day: It was a busy day for the squad. The girls continued the pole vault competition from Friday and competed with the boys together at morning. Later two boys competed in 400m hurdles and 100m sprint. Fortunately the conditions were better than Friday.

The competition started in fairly good conditions. But a storm was coming and when the bar was raised to 240 cm the strong rain stopped the competition. It will be continued on Sunday 9 am..
Our youngest (12 years old) squad member has done and won her first pole vault competition and jumped new personal best. Congratulation!

Unfortunately we couldn't hold our handicap competition (not official) in good conditions. There was a strong side wind that made the competition hard for everybody. But at least we did not get any rain..
Every athlete competed from different approaches, depend on their preparation level.

Back to SydneyAs you know I was away for the last half year in Perth and worked for WAIS together with Alex Parnov. However I felt really sorry to leave the squad during this period it was very valuable for improving my knowledge. Thanks for Alex (who is the most successful and experienced pole vault coach and really kind person) and his athletes (whose enthusiasm and passion to pole vaulting is exceptional).
I'm sure you will feel the benefits of my trip as well. Especially because we're looking forward to important competitions in this season: NSW State Championships, Youth and Junior National Championships (Sydney), Open National Championships (Perth), World Junior Championships (Canada).
We'll start the trainings on 9th of January 9am (SOPAC).
I hope you had a great time during the festive season and you're happy to start the training again!

2nd Seahawks Handicap CompetitionWe were lucky to have held our 2nd (not official) handicap competition in fairly good weather conditions, in sunshine, without rain but against strong wind...
Because we have finished the competition season and now we have started the general preparation phase for the next one, every athlete competed just from 6 steps run up.
I am happy to tell you that there were 10 competitors and the youngest athlete was 9, the oldest 22 years old.
Everyone got a different starting height, so the beginners could compete against the best athletes in every round. We raised the bar by 10cm in every new round and the winner was the one who could stay in the competition the longest..

Seahawks Squad's 1st Christmas Handicap Pole Vault CompetitionSeahawks Squad's 1st Christmas Handicap Pole Vault Competition (not official) was held with 8 competitors at Homebush Warm Up Track on 20th of December.
Every athlete got different starting height up to their performance and the bar was lifted with 10cm in every round. The winner became who could clear the bar in the most rounds and finished the competition with the biggest different between the personal starting height and finally cleared height.
The winner of 1st Christmas Handicap Competition was Rebecca Stewart. Alexandra Gall was 2nd and Catherine Ebeling 3rd.

Seahawks Squad's 1st Christmas Handicap Pole Vault CompetitionSeahawks Squad's 1st Christmas Handicap Pole Vault Competition (not official) was held with 8 competitors at Homebush Warm Up Track on 20th of December.
Every athlete got different starting height up to their performance and the bar was lifted with 10cm in every round. The winner became who could clear the bar in the most rounds and finished the competition with the biggest different between the personal starting height and finally cleared height.
The winner of 1st Christmas Handicap Competition was Rebecca Stewart. Alexandra Gall was 2nd and Catherine Ebeling 3rd.
